How long does the medication take to act?

It is a myth that Homeopathic medication is slow to act. In acute diseases, like colds, coughs and fevers etc, the medicine acts within hours, and the treatment may last 3- 5 days as in any normal course of medication.

Generally in chronic cases the treatment duration of chronic problems depends on the length of time that the disease has affected the person. For example a disease that a person has suffered with since 2-3 years may take at least 1-2 months to cure. The individual reaction to the medication and the type of illness determines the duration of treatment required.

Will there be any side effects/ adverse effects?
Homeopathic medications cause no side- effects. Homeopathic medicines contain miniscule quantities of the original medicinal substance, and do not contain large doses of chemicals or synthetic compounds. This ensures that there are no undesired or adverse side- effects of the medication.

As in most chronic illnesses, the medication needs to be taken over an extended length of time, and most conventional drugs show side- effects when taken long term. Here Homeopathy provides the advantage of having no side- effects during chronic treatment, even in cases which require ongoing medication.

What do the Homeopathic medicines contain?
The medicines are sourced from plants, animal products, minerals and chemicals, all in miniscule doses. The substance is put through the process of potentisation, and the resulting potencies or dilutions are prepared with a form of alcohol, and are preserved with them .The globules used to dispense the medication are made of sacrum lactis, to which drops of the potencies of medication are added at the time of dispensing.

Do homeopathic medicines contain steroids?
No, Homeopathic medication do not contain steroids. Homeopathic medication is sourced from herbs, plants, animal sources, chemicals and minerals, and also substances that are inert in their natural state. Steroids are not a part of Homeopathic medication.

The action of Homeopathic medication is less understood, and many a time its cures and fast reactions are misinterpreted to be the action of steroids, which has essentially brought about this misconception.

Are all the medicines in the form of white globules?
The much loved small white globules are just used to dispense the medicines. A few drops o>f the medication that is in the form of liquid dilutions is poured on to a vial of globules, and this is allowed to be fully absorbed by the globules. At which point the prescribed dose of medication can be taken by taking 4-6 pills or as directed.

Most homoeopathic medicines are in the form of dilutions or potencies which are in the liquid form, and preserved in alcohol. Medicines are also in the form of tinctures, manufactured pills, and creams and gels are also used for external application. There are more than 3500 Homeopathic remedies to prescribe from and new medicines are added to the list regularly.

Do Homeopathic medicines interfere with the action of the allopathic medication?
Homeopathic remedies have no known reaction with conventional drugs, or interference with their action. As the medicine action varies between the two systems, in certain cases it is generally known to be harmless to take both therapies together.

Usually it has been seen that in chronic cases where the patient has been on long term drug therapy, (anti hypertensives, diabetic medication etc), the Homeopathic medication can be given simultaneously with these, without any adverse reactions.

Does Homeopathy work in acute cases?
Yes. Homeopathy can give prompt relief in acute cases like fever, cough, cold, diarrhea, headaches etc. Contrary to the common thought that Homeopathy is only for chronic illnesses, it can provide prompt relief in acute conditions, within hours or days, as the case may be. Gastritis, UTIs, abscesses, conjunctivitis, and tonsillitis, are few of the acute conditions that can be effectively treated with Homeopathy.

Do Homeopaths also ask for medical tests and investigations?
Yes. The Diagnosis of the disease is important in management and treatment of the disease, to rule out certain conditions, and for the prognosis. Any necessary investigative procedures are suggested by the physician as and when required

Do Homeopaths prepare the medicines themselves? / Where are the medicines available?
No. While many Homeopaths prefer to dispense medication themselves to assure quality and to avoid overuse of the medication, it is sourced from Pharmacies. Medication is available at Homeopathic pharmacies, both on prescription and as over the counter medicines.

The manufacturing and processing of medicines is done in the Homeopathic Pharmaceuticals, a rapidly growing industry with an increasing demand for quality products.

Can Homeopathic treatment be combined with other therapies?
In a lot of cases, physiotherapy, or nutritional supplements may be required to enhance and complement the Homeopathic treatment.

With the Holistic approach to health and disease treatment, the focus of the treatment is also on promoting healthy lifestyles, destressing, and ongoing management of health. To this end, the combination of Homeopathic medication with yoga, counseling or NLP, depending on the particular case, may be specifically advised.
