Fistula is An infected tunnel between the skin and the anus.
An anal fistula is an infected tunnel between the skin and the anus, the muscular opening at the end of the
digestive tract. Most anal fistulas are the result of an infection in an anal gland that spreads to the skin.
Causative factors:
1)Frequent formation and rupture of anorectal abscess.
2) IBS
3) Crohn’s Disease
4) Ulcerative Colitis etc…
5)In some cases Carcinomas of rectum or anus can also be a cause.
1) Pain in anal region with burning
2) pain better after discharge of pus.
3) irritation and itching around anus.
4) Difficulty while seating.
1)small solitary opening is seen with small elevation
2) pus accumulation
3)discharges through same opening or new opening
4) On Palpation :
Induration in part is felt.
5)granulation tissue points are noted from mouth of opening.
if not treated well may lead to secondary infection.
